Building local capacity in the oil and gas sector

Unlocking Opportunities for Ugandan SME’s Through the National Oil & Gas Policy

Uganda’s National Oil & Gas Policy is creating a wealth of opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the country. By emphasizing local participation and capacity building, the policy aims to ensure that Ugandan businesses can tap into the vast potential of the oil and gas sector. This initiative not only promotes economic growth but also empowers local enterprises to play a critical role in the development of the industry.

Through strategic partnerships, skills development, and regulatory support, Ugandan SMEs are now better equipped to compete and thrive in this emerging sector. From service provision and supply chain management to technical expertise, local businesses are positioned to benefit from new contracts and opportunities created by the policy framework.

To further enhance understanding and readiness, we recently hosted a Q-Sourcing Workshop, which brought together key industry players and SMEs to explore the latest opportunities and requirements in the oil and gas sector. The workshop focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate this dynamic industry, with an emphasis on maximizing local content and participation.

By empowering Ugandan businesses and fostering a collaborative environment, the National Oil & Gas Policy is set to transform the landscape for SMEs, offering long-term benefits and sustainable growth.
