Christine Senteza, Project Delivery Manager at the IEC, delivered the opening remarks. She welcomed the attendees and provided a brief overview of the IEC’s mission and the various programs and services offered to Ugandan enterprises in the oil and gas sector.

The IEC was established in February 2024 by TotalEnergies, along with its joint venture partners, to empower Ugandan businesses to participate actively in the country’s oil and gas industry. The center offers a variety of programs to bridge the gap and equip Ugandan enterprises for success, including:
 Capacity building programs
 Training programs
 Supplier development workshops
 Networking events
 Stakeholder forums

Senteza highlighted the IEC’s role as a resource center, providing relevant information about the oil and gas sector through its website (www.iec.go.ug) and publications. The IEC website is a one-stop shop for Ugandan enterprises seeking opportunities, training, and sector-related information. One key initiative mentioned during the ceremony was the National Supplier Database Registration. Senteza encouraged companies to register on the database to enhance their visibility and access to potential opportunities. The ceremony also recognized TotalEnergies for their commitment to supporting Ugandan businesses in the oil and gas sector. Their partnership with the government of Uganda has been instrumental in empowering local enterprises, Elih Twine from Rwibare Tech Limited, emphasized the significance of the IMS certification for the participating companies. The ISO certification transcends the oil and gas sector, equipping businesses with valuable skills and processes applicable across various industries.

The TASC IMS Project Ceremony marked a significant milestone for the participating companies, the IEC, and the Ugandan oil and gas sector as a whole. The IEC remains committed to supporting Ugandan enterprises on their journey towards active and meaningful participation in the country’s oil and gas industry.
