Uganda’s oil and gas sector presents significant economic opportunities. The Industry Enhancement Center (IEC) has played a key role in capacity building and enterprise support to maximize local participation.
Over 4,000 Ugandans have been trained and internationally certified in various oil and gas disciplines. Institutions like the Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK) and industry partnerships have facilitated skills development, ensuring a competent workforce.
More than 5,000 SMEs have been trained in key oil and gas business areas, equipping them to participate in the sector. Local content policies further support Ugandan enterprises in procurement and service provision.
Through targeted training and enterprise support, Uganda is strengthening its oil and gas sector for sustainable growth and economic transformation. IEC and other stakeholders continue to drive these initiatives, ensuring local businesses and professionals thrive in the industry.
