Building local capacity in the oil and gas sector

EACOP Boosts National Content with Key Capacity-Building Initiatives

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project is reaffirming its commitment to National Content by fostering skills development among Ugandan graduates and educators. In collaboration with tier-one contractors and suppliers, EACOP is implementing two major initiatives aimed at enhancing knowledge and capacity across tertiary and vocational institutions.

  1. Internship/Graduate Training Programs:
These programs will equip Ugandan graduates and students with practical skills and work exposure in various disciplines through placements with EACOP’s contractors and suppliers.
  2. Train-the-Trainer Programs:
Designed for instructors and professors, these sessions will deliver specialized training from contractors and suppliers, focusing on engineering disciplines and vocational skills essential to the project’s success.

To strengthen this commitment, EACOP has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kyambogo University. This partnership will guide collaborative efforts to realize these capacity-building initiatives, fostering a skilled workforce ready to contribute to Uganda’s development.
