Who Can Apply?

To participate in the FIT Program, SME’s must meet the following key minimum program requirements;

  • SME must be a legal entity that is legally registered and incorporated under the laws of Uganda. Applicant must submit a valid Certificate of Incorporation and/or registration.
  • SME must have a valid business location and operating premises.
  • SME must be registered on the National Supplier Database (NSD). Applicants must attach proof of NSD registration. Alternatively, Applicants can provide proof of application if their status is pending approval/ review.
  • SME’s must be classified as a Ugandan Company on the National Supplier Database.
  • SME must be in operation for a period of more than two (2) years, as per Certificate of Incorporation/ Registration.
  • SME must have at least more than five (5) employees, with an annual turnover of not less than 100,000,000 UGX.
  • SME must bear good financial status. Applicant must submit a copy audited bank statements for the previous year.
  • SME must possess good market conduct and reputation. The company or its legal representatives must bear no reported cases of blacklisting.
  • SME must be compliant in terms of tax obligations and social security requirements as per the Government regulations.
  • SME must demonstrate a high level of commitment and willingness to participate in the FIT program and to delegate the appropriate personnel for the training program.
  • SME’s must be operational within priority sectors for the Oil & Gas industry in Uganda as listed below;

High Priority

Engineering Services: Small engineering consulting firms specializing in structural or process engineering for Oil and Gas facilities. For example;

  • Civil and Construction SME’s specializing in heavy construction and site preparation.
  • Mechanical and Piping SME’s specializing in piping design, pipeline installation, and the fabrication of mechanical components for Oil and Gas facilities.
  • Electrical and Instrumentation SME’s focused on electrical systems design, power distribution, automation and instrumentation services tailored to Oil and Gas infrastructure.
  • Geotechnical Engineering SME’s offering soil and rock mechanics expertise, foundational analysis, and site stability assessments.
  • Welding and Metallurgical SME’s for welding and material selection, including metallurgy consulting to enhance durability and prevent corrosion in oil and gas components.
  • Surveying and Geospatial SMEs: Firms that focus on topographical, geospatial mapping, and land surveying services to assist with site planning and pipeline routing.

Materials Supply, SME’s supplying;

  • Construction materials
  • Equipment Rentals for heavy machinery, cranes, and earth-moving equipment
  • Electrical Supplies: Suppliers of electrical materials to support the power needs of construction sites and operational facilities in Oil and Gas projects.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): SME’s supplying safety gear.
  • Chemical Supplies: Small companies supplying Oil and Gas chemicals to be used in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Supply chain services (Logistics and Transportation): SME’s offering transport services for equipment, materials, and personnel.

Environmental Services;

  • Environmental Engineering SME’s specializing in environmental assessments and compliance audits for Oil and Gas sites.
  • Hydrological and Water Resource Companies providing water management solutions, including hydrological assessments, water supply, and wastewater treatment tailored for Oil and Gas projects.
  • Fire Safety and Hazard Analysis SME’s focusing on fire safety engineering, risk assessment.
  • Maintenance Services: SME’s providing equipment maintenance, servicing, and repair, For example;
  1. Pipeline Integrity Services: SME’s specializing in pipeline inspection, leak detection, and corrosion monitoring.
  2. Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance (Valves, actuators and control systems): SME’s that provide calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  3. Structural Integrity and Fabrication: SME’s offering services for inspection, welding, fabrication, and repair of structural elements such as platforms, rigs, and supports to maintain stability and safety.
  4. HVAC and Ventilation Maintenance: SME’s specializing in the maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in onshore facilities, ensuring comfortable and safe environments for personnel.

Medium Priority

  • Catering: Catering SME’s offering remote-site services.
  • Medical Services: On-site medical providers for personnel’s.
  • Safety and Security Services: Companies that provide security services and personnel’s.
  • Communications and IT: Providers of communication equipment and services for remote sites.
  • Camp and Facility Management: Companies managing worker accommodation camps, laundry, and facility upkeep like Camp waste management.

  • Legal and Regulatory Services.
  • Human Resources and Recruitment Services: Specialized recruitment agencies for Oil and Gas positions.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Parts and Equipment Manufacturing: Small manufacturers of valves, pumps, and other mechanical and electrical parts.
