The Industry Enhancement Centre (IEC) has successfully concluded its National Student Database (NSD) registration, aimed at improving student data management in Uganda. The initiative collects and stores student information across all education levels, streamlining services in the education sector.
Launched earlier this year, the drive addressed long-standing issues such as inefficient record-keeping and difficulties tracking academic progress. IEC mobilized students nationwide, with both urban and rural areas participating, thanks to mobile registration teams and partnerships with local schools and governments.
An IEC spokesperson highlighted the database’s role in improving education management, policymaking, and addressing challenges like enrollment gaps. The drive emphasized digital inclusion, offering online and offline registration options, ensuring accessibility for all students.
IEC has assured stakeholders of strict data protection measures and plans to integrate additional services like scholarships and learning materials into the platform. Students who missed the registration are encouraged to enroll via the IEC website or designated centers.
With the NSD in place, Uganda’s education system is poised for significant advancement.
